Red Tape

The Cabinet Office has a website that lists and asks for comments on  regulations. It highlights certain regulations which affect all business sectors, but also publishes regulations that apply to specific businesses or industries. In both cases it is your view on where red tape can be removed that the government needs.

The regulatory areas common to all businesses that are being reviewed are health and safety, environment, equalities, pensions, company law and employment. In addition over the next few weeks all the regulations affecting the following sectors or industries will be listed:

• 20 May       Road transportation
• 2 June        Fisheries, marine enterprises and internal waterways
• 16 June      Manufacturing
• 23 June      Healthy living and social care
• 7 July          Media and creative services
• 21 July        Utilities and energy

The message from the government is “You tell us what’s working and what’s NOT, what can be simplified and what can be scrapped”
