Charities Update at Bournemouth Aviation Museum
Thursday 24 May 2012

The Southern panel wanted to do something different.  The speaker said it was the most unusual place she had delivered a lecture!

It was charities all the way for the Southern network when they visited the Bournemouth Aviation Museum in May. The museum is a charity run on an entirely voluntary basis and much of the content of the Charities Update, given by Sarah Smith FCCA during the evening, resonated with Mike Cherry FCCA, the museum's treasurer who had offered and organised this unusual venue.  The evening was a combination of professional networking and technical update.

After a welcome by one of the Museum's trustees, this 'Hands on' museum allows guests to sit in the cockpits of the aircraft, pretend drive the 1980's Fleetline bus, have a simulator experience and look over the runway of the adjacent Bournemouth Airport so attendees were free to explore and network.  Fellow trustees were on hand to provide detailed information and histories for the exhibits.  After an indulgent tea, provided by the museum volunteers, members assembled in a ‘marquee’ for an informative Charities Update.  "More like this please" said the delegates.  Great venue, good networking, warm sunny weather and some technical content too!
