Events/CPD

The Public Sector Network organises 6 events per year on behalf of its members. The majority are held in London, with the remainder across the country. ACCA audio record these events where possible and place these recordings on the podcast section of the website. Please visit the podcast page to view all lectures recorded.

There will be an event on Thursday 23 May 2013 (6pm - 8.30pm) which will be held at Cavendish Conference Centre, 22 Duchess Mews, London, W1G 9DT

The details are:

Title - An ageing society - are we ready?

Time - 6:00 pm - 6:30pm Registration, 6:30pm - 8:00pm presentations and Q&A 8:00pm - 8:30pm refreshments and networking

Speakers - Lord Filkin of Pimlico, Chair of the Committee on Public Service and Demographic Change, Prof. Sarah Harper, Director of the Oxford Institute of Population Ageing and Richard Harbord, Chief Executive, Boston Borough Council

Outline - Between 2010 and 2030 the number of people aged over 65 will increase by 51%. With the government being accused of being "woefully underprepared" for this issue, it's time to face up to the reality and look at the bigger picture of an ageing population and how we are going to provide the support and services to make a longer life the "gift" it should be. This distinguished panel will give an overview of the situation and explore the practicalities involved, with time for questions from the floor.
