Local support available

ACCA are currently working with the following organisations to provide you with a focussed way to engage with your local schools:

The Institute For Education Business Excellence (IEBE)

IEBE is the umbrella organisation and representative body for over 160 Education and Business Partnerships (EBPs) and businesses across England and Wales, leading on issues of management and development of the education business agenda. Its mission is to promote and enhance the education and training of students and young people through the nurturing of constructive relationships between educational and business organisations.

ACCA are working with IEBE to develop links between schools and ACCA members and Approved Employers. Additionally, we are investigating the possibility of hosting teacher placements to provide teachers with an insight into accountancy careers which can then be shared with their students.

IEBE has provided some background information and FAQs on work experience. To view these please see the related document on the left hand menu.

For further details on IEBE and to discuss how you can engage in your local area please visit the IEBE website NEBPN website - opens in a new window

The Scottish Government - Determined to Succeed team

The Scottish Government recognises the importance of developing enterprise and employability skills in young people as an integral part of their education. As an employer or an employee you can bring real inspiration and relevance for Scotland's young people and make a real difference.

By getting involved you are supporting the Scottish Government's aims as well as giving young people the skills and drive needed to create a dynamic and more prosperous Scotland. And you will learn as much from the experience as you will give.

The Scottish Government rely on a variety of partners to give young people the breadth of experience needed to increase their self-confidence and motivation and develop the ‘can do, will do' attitude they need to succeed beyond school. Providing young people with an understanding of the world of work and commerce will create an appetite for more enterprising approaches to life and work and help to develop their all important employability skills.

Career Academies UK

Career Academies UK lead and support a national movement of employers, schools and colleges, working to raise the aspirations of 16 to 19 year olds who are considering a career in business.

The majority of Career Academies UK students are undertaking an accountancy related course and are therefore interested in a career in accounting. ACCA is working with Career Academies UK to inform the students of the choices available to them and provide an insight into an accountancy career.

ACCA members and Approved Employers can engage with these students in a variety of ways, from becoming business gurus to offering students a six week internship over the summer.

For further details on Career Academies UK and how to engage with their students please visit the Career Academies UK Career Academies UK - opens in a new window website.
