ACCA South Africa sponsors the SA Top Matric Accounting student
Sandra Adams was overjoyed when she was told that she had attained an A+ pass in her Matric (Grade 12) Accounting paper. Her achievement earned her the South African top Matric student, in the disadvantaged student category. Together with her A+ in Accounting, Sandra also achieved 4A's and a B in her other subjects.
In recognition of her hard work, ACCA South Africa presented her the Top Accounting Student Award at the SA Top Matric Awards, organised by the National Department of Education in partnership with GIDE (a leading Youth Development organisation). The awards were held at the Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza in Sandton, Johannesburg, on the 19 th March 2005. ACCA South Africa has also committed to helping Sandra with the cost of her textbooks for her first year of tertiary studies and to help mentor and coach her as she starts her university studies.
Sandra is presently registered with Wits University for a medical degree, though her first preference was in the accounting field. Despite both her parents being unemployed, and social conditions not being conducive to studying, Sandra has conquered her adversities and ensured her future success. We wish her everything of the best and hope to play a pivotal role in her achievements to come.
ACCA is committed to working and supporting the developmental projects which help to improve the quality of life of learners in South Africa.
