Deputy Minister of Science and Technology addresses pupils in Mpumalanga Province

Derek Hanekom, deputy minister of science and technology, encouraged matriculants to follow careers in maths, science, technology and accounting during his address at a career convention on the 24th August in Witbank, Mpumalanga Province.

The Banking, Investment & Financial Services career convention was organised by GIDE, a leading youth development organisation, supported by large employers including Capitec Bank, Sentech and ACCA. GIDE has positioned itself as a role player in supporting the development of education and career guidance, also providing opportunity for partnerships in grooming and advising the youth on opportunities in industries.

Theodorah Modise, Marketing Communications Officer for ACCA SA, was one of the presenters, addressing over 1000 matriculants at the convention. Two prominent TV youth personalities (Kabelo and Tobi), entertained the pupils for the day.
