The 1-Minute Interview

Student Interview
Andy Tan

What prompted you to embark on the ACCA Qualification once you completed your studies at Temasek Polytechnic?

I have always had a keen interest in accounting. Pursuing the ACCA Qualification, one of the most recognised professional qualifications, was an ideal choice for my further studies in this area.

You have done well for your exams and are a prize winner for Paper P7 SGP. Can you share with other students some advice on how you studied for your exams?

Revise consistently after lectures and work towards understanding the concepts taught instead of trying to remember every single point in the lecture notes or textbooks. This will help you in applying them during examinations. Most importantly, do not be afraid of asking questions to clarify any doubts.

How do you spend your free time?

I love to spend quality time with family and friends. It takes the pressure off particularly after prolonged periods of studying.

What are you looking to do now that you have finished your studies?

I am currently pursuing a career in audit in one of the leading accounting firms.

Who do you admire and how has he/she inspired you?

I have always looked up to my lecturer Mr Goh Sher Wee. Being an ACCA prize winner himself he has always encouraged us to make the extra effort and strive for achievements. He has been a great source of motivation to me.

What motto do you live by?

Work hard, play hard.
