April - June (Quarter 1)
ACCA Singapore: What prompted you to embark on the ACCA Qualification?
Sian: I was previously working in law and made a decision to switch to accounting, which was my first degree. My father, also an accountant, suggested I study for the ACCA.
ACCA Singapore: Can you share with other students some advice on how you study for your exams?
Sian: I find that for conceptual exams like F8 and P1, colourful mind maps are a brilliant way to make the information stick in your head. For calculation-based exams like F7, you just have to practice the past questions. Always practice past papers for the unit you're studying!
ACCA Singapore: How do you spend your free time?
Sian: I think it's very important to have a life outside studying or working. Personally, I really like to run outdoors when it's not raining because its a great way to see Singapore and get some exercise!
ACCA Singapore: What’s your ambition once you finish your studies?
Sian: Ultimately, I'd like to be my own boss and run my own company. But first, I'd like to start my career in audit.
ACCA Singapore: Who do you admire and how has he/she inspired you?
Sian: I really admire my father because he lives well. He has a work-life balance, he started his own firm, and he has a liberal, sensible approach to life.
ACCA Singapore: What motto do you live by?
Sian: Do good, avoid evil, live well.
