CPD mutual recognition: ACCA and Chamber of Financial Auditors
Ceremony for signing of the mutual recognition agreement on CPD between ACCA and the Chamber of Financial Auditors of Romania during the
CAFR Conference on "The Cross-border Auditor: Professionalism and Independence", 11th of April 2008
On 11th of April the Chamber of Financial Auditors of Romania organised an international conference with the topic of "The Cross-border Auditor: Professionalism and Independence", in Bucharest.
Building on the good relations that ACCA shares with local professional bodies, ACCA's president, Ms. Gill Ball was invited to deliver a speech in one of the conference's plenary session with the topic: "Continuous Professional Education for Financial Auditors" and also to chair the workshop with the same title.
The event was attended by well over 180 people, professional financial auditors members of CAFR who were very active in debating the issues raised by the speakers both in the plenary sessions and during the workshops.
As ACCA and CAFR had agreed at the beginning of the year on the format of a mutual recognition agreement on CPD for joint members, during one of the breaks of the conference a signing ceremony was organized for Prof. Univ. Dr. Ion Mihailescu, President of CAFR and Ms. Gill Ball, president of ACCA to officially conclude the partnership.
This follows from an agreement that ACCA has signed back in 2003 with the Chamber whereby ACCA members are granted easy access (only after an interview) to the quality of financial auditor.
The current CPD agreement specifies that joint members who choose to follow the ACCA CPD scheme (relevant courses for professionals from the audit, financial and accounting field of activity) automatically obtain credit for the compulsory professional training requirements of CFAR. ACCA members may undertake and complete their CPD requirements via one of three routes as detailed in the annex to this memorandum.
Completion can be verified by the provision of a confirmatory certificate, issued by ACCA Romania, in which there is confirmation of the fact that the member has made their Annual Return to ACCA.
