IFRS in the Republic of Moldova
4 ACCA members and 12 students and 206 professionals in the Republic of Moldova attended the regional conference jointly organised by ACCA and Association of Professional Accountants and Auditors of the Republic of Moldova (ACAP RM), the local Moldavian body on 23 November 2007, Friday in Chisinau with the theme "IFRS in the Republic of Moldova: Issues, Challenges, Perspectives". The Moldavian Vice-Minister for Finance, Ion Chicu opened the conference with a speech (among the speakers: Richard Martin, ACCA Head of Financial Reporting, Ronnie Smith ATC Global Training)
The role of the Conference was to raise the awarness of public interest entities, government and professional accountants on the implementation and application of IFRS in accordance to the newly implemented Accountancy Law which makes the application of IFRS mandatory for all public entities in the Republic of Moldova, starting with 1st of January 2008.
