I studied a Masters degree in Business in the Netherlands and in 2005 I decided to move to Ireland where I began a career in IT sales. Having worked in sales for a couple of years I then began exploring other opportunities. I attended an ACCA open day at Dublin Business School and decided to enrol. I realised that the flexibility of ACCA suited me and I was further motivated by the international recognition of the ACCA Qualification. I put in a big effort and on passing my first exams and I decided that this was what I wanted to do.
In 2008 I finally made the switch and moved into a career in Finance. I'm currently working in the IT industry as a Financial Analyst with EMC in Cork. I work in Revenue Assurance ensuring major sales deals are compliant with the Revenue Recognition accounting standards.
EMC is a great employer; it is dynamic workplace with plenty of opportunities for learning and continuous professional development both in Cork and globally. EMC is an ACCA approved employer.
I am now a qualified ACCA accountant and I have no doubt that ACCA membership will open new doorways and opportunities for me.
