16th ACCA Charity Fun Day

The 16th ACCA Charity Fun Day was successfully held on Sunday (13 Jan) with the theme of “Sports for Love”, and raised HK$1.1 million for Jubilee Ministries, Otic Founcation and Project Concern Hong Kong for their respective projects serving the elderly poor and the disabled.

Established in 1997, ACCA Charitable Foundation Limited has raised over HK$12 million through its signature annual Charity Fun Day for many charitable organisations to support the needy in the past years.

ACCA Hong Kong is honoured to have the event officiated by The Hon Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, GBS, JP, Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Labour and Welfare Bureau of the Government of HKSAR for the fifth time.  Mr Cheung remarked that the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government attaches great importance to the well-being of the elderly and people with disabilities.  In recent years, the government have been allocating additional resources to introduce new services to meet their needs.  He also thanked ACCA Hong Kong for organising this most worthy charity event and can count on ACCA Hong Kong in the collective efforts in building an inclusive and harmonious society.

William Mak, Chairman of ACCA Hong Kong, remarked in the opening ceremony, “There is no doubt that we live in interesting and challenging times for the businesses in which we all operate.  If there is one word that characterises the environment right now, it is ‘volatility’.  Just like any sports competition, we cannot be 100% sure about the results. ACCA has been dedicated in supporting our members to meet the changing needs, and to stay in the games. As members of the community, ACCA Hong Kong continues to contribute not only to the profession, but also to those in need.”

Olympic Games table tennis men’s doubles medallists Ko Lai Chak and Li Chen, together with Elites Athletes of Hong Kong also joined this meaningful event as special guests.

A total of 37 teams from accountancy firms, companies, universities and institutions raced for the triumph and cheered on the Chater Road.  All teams dressed up in amazing costumes such as Alice in the Wonderland.  The overall Champion of the Rickshaw Race was Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu (at 51.09 seconds).   Ernst & Young and Sino Group of Hotels took home the first and second runner-ups respectively.

Ernst & Young won the Champion of the Most Outstanding Costume Award as well as the Outstanding Cheering Team Award; and AIA – Group Finance was the winner of the Top Donation Achiever Award.

ACCA Hong Kong hopes that all visitors of the event will carry on the passion and mission to build a society with love and care.  While enjoying the wonderful Sunday of signature rickshaw races, costume parade, mega sports games, singing and street performances by pop singers including Sita Chan, Hiromi Wada and Girls Kingdom, ACCA appreciates all the generous donations by the participants.

ACCA Hong Kong would like to thank the following sponsors for their enormous supports and congratulate the following winners:
