ACCA Business Competition 2012
Launched by ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) Hong Kong since 2007, this is the 6th ACCA Hong Kong Business Competition to be held this year. This competition opens for Degree and Sub-degree students, inviting all full-time accounting and business degree and sub-degree students from local institutes to participate. Upon the close of enrolment last Friday (19 October), the organiser had received applications from a total of 603 teams with more than 2,100 students enrolled. There are over 200 teams of degree students and close to 400 teams of sub-degree students compete for the Championship of the respective categories.
Having Create Hong Kong (CreateHK) of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region as the Partner Organisation, this year’s Competition invites contesting teams, comprising two to four students as members, to simulate a non-profit making project that is conducive to the development of creative industries in Hong Kong for an institution/organisation and prepare a business proposal for this project to bid a sponsorship from CreateHK’s CreateSmart Initiative (CSI). The projects to be covered by the Competition shall fall under any of the following creative sectors, ranging from advertising, architecture, animation, comics and digital entertainment, music, publishing, to television, with a budget not exceeding HK$3 million. These requirements are tailored for this Competition which is slightly different from the original eligibility of CSI.
Brenda Lam, Head of Learning and Development of ACCA Hong Kong, said that the competition aims to provide students an effective platform for equipping students with thorough analytical skills, business proposal writing skills, presentation skills and communication skills through working in a team environment in a real and interesting business situation.
After reviewing the participating teams’ proposals, the top five finalist teams of each group will be invited to present their proposals to the panel of judges during the Final Competition on 1 December (Degree) and 8 December (Sub-degree) to compete for the championship.
