Prior to setting up Tinopolis he was a global partner in the accounting and consultancy firm Andersen. Jones took the Company public in 2005 and this led to a rapid expansion, including a hostile takeover of the largest listed production company at that time, The Television Corporation PLC. In 2008 Jones and his management team bought the company back in partnership with the private equity company Vitruvian Partners. Tinopolis is now one of Europe's largest television production companies, selling to 180 countries around the world. It is best known for its programmes for S4C, and many others such as Question Time and Gordon Ramsey's Hell's Kitchen. Over 40% of its business is now in the USA. It has won the contracts to be BT's lead production partner for the BT Sports channels are being launched this summer and to be the host broadcaster for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2014.
Jones is Chairman of the Welsh Government's advisory panel for the creative industries and is an honorary fellow of Swansea University and the University of Wales Trinity Saint David. Jones is a former member of Sport Wales and the Welsh Language Board.
