Brighton Business School Joint Bodies networking event

The University of Brighton Business School in association with several local branches of professional bodies (ACCA, CIM, CIPD, CIMA, CII, IFA, CMI, IOD and the Law Society) co-hosts two evening networking events a year with the following aims:

• Opportunities for cross sector networking and exchange of relevant sector information
• Share best business practice and provide for continuing professional development (CPD).

This event is joint hosted with the Chartered Insurance Institute and IFA.

Presentation: Environmental Threats to Business
Speaker - Matt Cullen, Association of British Insurers 

Matt Cullen of the Association of British Insurers will be talking about the issues with flood insurance and the wider effect on business and the economy.  An extremely topical subject as the current agreement between insurers and the Government is due to expire in June 2013.  Matt is the ABI’s Policy Adviser on flooding, with responsibility for policy work on flood insurance, in particular the transition to the expiry of the Statement of Principles agreement in 2013, and lobbying on flood risk management and the planning system.  His remit also covers climate change policy.  In this capacity, he sits on the Managing Committee of ClimateWise and is working closely with the UK Government on their ‘Climate Ready’ Programme.  Matt previously worked in the nuclear industry: with the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority in Cumbria, the Department of Energy and Climate Change in London, and the US Department of Energy in Washington DC
