Club Evening: Red flags and fraud scenarios

Mr. Patrik Mikolaj, ACCA, CFE from Ernst & Young will share tips how to indentify fraud signs in real life scenarios.

During the session you will find out:

• The definition of fraud, the Fraud triangle and the Fraud Tree
• Why fraud occurs and how expensive it is for companies
• What auditor's responsibilities are in terms of fraud and why fraud might not be discovered during an audit
• Which methods are the most successful for discovering fraud
• What should the proper response be when you discover fraud or red flags
• What are the most common fraud scenarios and related red flags (with reference to some real cases)
• Social engineering techniques used by fraudsters

At the end, we will also discuss one real case related to the missapropriation of assets by employees of Slovakian company through false invoicing and how it was discovered and investigated. We will go through the main red flags which, if properly followed up at the beginning, could have helped the company avoid bigger losses.
