ACCA Business Game with KPMG
ACCA has organized ACCA Business Pop Concert Challenge for the third consecutive year in cooperation with KPMG Czech Republic at KPMG Prague office.
„KPMG Czech Republic holds a series of seminars and workshops for university students to deepen their knowledge of areas relating to audit, tax and advisory and to help them with their career decisions“, said Michaela Podesvova, Specialist Human Resources, KPMG.
Katerina Benesova, Head of ACCA Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary served as an facilitator of the Game and as well gave a short presentation about ACCA. Game was attended by eighteen university students. Students were divided into four teams in which KPMG´s employees from Audit department had the role of observers. As the whole game was played in English students had not only the chance to improve their analytical skills but as well their proficiency in English. In addition they had the opportunity to meet and talk to KPMG’s Partner Andreas Hoefinghoff who had the role of Finance Director in the Game and later awarded the winning team. Finally KPMG´s representatives presented training and development opportunities that their employees have together with KPMG Internship Program. Game provided excellent learning opportunity not only to university students but as well to KPMG’s Audit employees who were the observers.
„The game itself reminds me a small case study. You are put together with other people in order to create small teams and compete with other participants. As always your team members are crucial. To succeed you have to cooperate perfectly and find solutions to various problems. The ACCA Business Game prepared us a lot of accounting, managerial and marketing issues. Knowledge of basic accounting principles was handy but common sense and teamwork should be enough to make a proper analysis and find flawless answers.Because of the time pressure our team had to effectively communicate different problems. Finally we agreed on most of the topics and then we had to present them to our evaluators. Important lesson is that the work doesn´t finish with finding a right solution. To achieve your goal you also need to sell the solution to your business partners. Although I don´t like pop music I must admit that making a pop concert venue was really fun. The ACCA Business Game was an outstanding opportunity to use your own skills and knowledge in very well designed international game“, said one of the participants.
