Kate O’Brien graduated from the National University of Ireland Maynooth with a BA in Finance and Economics in 2004. She joined IFS, a State Street Company, in Ireland in July 2004 as a graduate. Kate has over four years of Fund Accounting experience.
In 2008, Kate was joined the newly formed Financial Reporting team at IFS, a State Street Company. In addition to preparing annual and interim financial statements (mostly US GAAP), Kate prepared quarterly regulatory reporting, delivered training courses in-house and was involved in various projects. In 2012, Kate was promoted Manager.
While working full time, she completed the ACCA exams, passing all thirteen exams on first attempt. She qualified in 2010 and became an ACCA member.
In 2010, Kate was profiled in the 2010/2011 Ireland ACCA Graduate Guide. Kate was also featured in various Accounting and Business magazine profiles and Ireland’s Business Plus magazine.
In 2011, Kate accepted a Fund Accounting Manager position with the IFS Toronto office and has been with the Toronto office since June 2011. She has since taken the initiative to streamline the Financial Reporting process for clients serviced out of the Toronto office.
Kate understands that Canada is a migration market for ACCA members like herself and believes that ACCA will grow rapidly in Canada as many more ACCA members relocate over the next few years.
