Students migrating to ANZ

Setting the scene - ANZ culture and employers

Australia/ New Zealand (ANZ) is one of the fastest growing member markets for ACCA globally and this is being driven by the migration of ACCA members and students, like you, into ANZ. That said, our membership numbers are small in comparison to the local professional body membership numbers.

The critical insight is that ANZ employers will be looking for recruits who have relevant work experience behind them, a concise CV that clearly demonstrates that experience and excellent written and oral communication skills. It is critical that migrants demonstrate they are a 'good fit' for the work culture in ANZ and can articulate how their overseas skills are relevant and will 'add value' to potential employers, in order to be successful in securing a role.

ACCA members and students who tick these boxes have found it easier to land a great jobs, often in senior roles, in well know global brands in ANZ.

Undertaking ACCA examinations in Australia and New Zealand

Examinations are held in June and December each year on the same day worldwide, regardless of where you are.

The commencement time for exams in:

  • New Zealand and the eastern states of Australia (Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane): is 5pm local time finishing at 8pm
  • Perth, Western Australia: is 3pm local time finishing at 6pm.

Regular exam centres

There are regular examination centres in Sydney and Melbourne, Australia and Auckland, New Zealand.

Special exam centres

It is possible to arrange paper-based exams at centres other than regular centres. These are referred to as special centres. Requests for special centres should be sent in writing, together with your exam entry form, to ACCA's Examinations Department by:

  • 8 March for June exams
  • 8 September for December exams.

ACCA will only approve requests for special centres if we are satisfied that the facilities maintain the same high standards and invigilation that exist at our regular centres.
