ACCA Qualification - Professional Scheme

More people around the world qualify in-country with ACCA than any other international body.

As such ACCA has established a worldwide reputation for the quality and relevance of its qualifications.

In order to qualify as an ACCA member, you will need to complete:

  • 14 exams opens in a new window (up to nine subjects are eligible for exemption if you have an accredited Australia/New Zealand degree)
  • Three years relevant supervised practical experience (PER)
  • A professional ethics module

Graduates from Australian and New Zealand Universities

ACCA accepts graduates from all degree disciplines although graduates who have majored in accounting and business may be exempt from up to nine of ACCA's 14 exam papers.

Claiming exemptions

The number of exemptions you can claim will depend on how closely your previous qualifications match the content of the ACCA Qualification.

Step one

Visit ACCA's exemption enquiry database opens in a new window to view further details on the exemptions offered to your degree and university.

Step two

If your qualification is listed, including your university intake year, you can proceed with registering as an ACCA student either online at our website opens in a new window or by requesting a paper registration form and pack by emailing.

If your qualification is not listed on this site please email, attaching your academic transcript, and we will have a preliminary assessment undertaken for you.

Exemptions will only be confirmed at the point of registered, when you will be notified of the exemptions you have been awarded and the examinations you are eligible to sit at your first examination sitting. Exemptions must be paid in full by the time you submit payment for your first exam sitting.

Claiming exemptions post registration

If you gain additional qualifications post registration, and think you may be eligible for additional exemption, an exemption notification will be issued to you if exemptions have been awarded. Your next exam entry form will reflect any additional exemptions you have been awarded since the last statement was produced. You will need to apply to claim exemptions at least twenty days before the exam entry closing date for the exam session you wish to sit ie twenty working dates before the exam entry closing dates of 8 March (early exam entry), 8 April (standard exam entry) or 8 May (late exam entry) for June exams and 8 September (early exam entry), 8 October (standard exam entry) and 8 November (late exam entry) for December exams. You can view this information through myACCA opens in a new window.

Examinations

Examinations are held twice a year in June and December, in over 170 countries. So even if you are resident in Australia or New Zealand, you can choose to sit your exams in another country if you wish.

The closing dates for early, standard and late exam entry are easy to remember - 8 is the date!
