Professional Ethics on the go
Module now available to download
14 Apr 2009
The ACCA Qualification has a strong focus on professional values, ethics and governance - skills which are essential to the accountancy profession. Therefore as part of your ethical development when studying for the qualification, you will be required to complete the Professional Ethics module, to which you can only gain access when you become eligible to sit Paper P1, Professional Accountant.
If you have opted in to the BSc degree programme, it is now a requirement for you to complete the Professional Ethics module before you can submit your Research and Analysis Project (RAP). To submit the RAP in the September/October submission period, you must complete the Professional Ethics module by 31 July.
At ACCA, we are aware how busy you are as trainees, and how precious study time can be – so we have now made it possible for the Professional Ethics module to be downloaded to a portable device, for use on the go.
If you are eligible to sit Paper P1, Professional Accountant, you will be able to download the online Professional Ethics module to your MP3 or MP4 player, mobile phone or BlackBerry.
It doesn't matter what type of device you choose to use; one of the following download options will be suitable for your needs:
- Listen (MP3 players and iPods) is downloaded as a number of podcasts, which can be listened to at your convenience. Once you have listened to all of these, you will then need to go online, and provide the written statement of learning for Unit 9 to complete the module.
- Listen/Watch (MP4 players and video iPods) is downloaded as a number of vodcasts, which include the case study as a simulation. As with the MP3/iPod version, you are then required to go online, and provide the written statement of learning for Unit 9 to complete the module.
- Mobile phone/Smartphone (eg BlackBerry) can be downloaded to your mobile phone or smartphone. It includes interactive quizzes, similar to those on the online version of the ethics module, as well as the case study and the Unit 9 written statement of learning, which can be submitted just like a text message.
Speaking on this latest development, Aude Leonetti, ACCA's director of education and professional development, said, 'We constantly strive to find new and innovative ways to engage with students and make the learning experience as convenient and tailored as possible for them. Giving students the opportunity to download and interact with the ethics module makes it easier for them to access and reflect on the content at times that fit around their other commitments. The Professional Ethics module has so far been well-received by students, and improving its accessibility means they will be able to take even greater responsibility for their own ethical development, utilising the latest technology.'
