The Government's Employer Engagement Strategy
The Education and Skills Act 2008 requires young people to stay in learning to 17 years of age from 2013 and to 18 from 2015. It is therefore becoming increasingly important for employers to work with young people to ensure they have a variety of education and training opportunities available to them.
The Government wants every school, including primary schools, to have a business partner. Many schools are already taking full advantage of employers' support, often working with colleges that already have naturally strong employer links.
The Government has recently published an employer engagement strategy, entitled "Building Stronger Partnerships". The strategy sets out the priorities where it is recognised that employer engagement can make the most difference to the success of a school. This can be downloaded from the DCSF website
