Reminder as self-assessment deadline looms
Paisley Daily Express - 21 October 2011
An accouintants' group has issued an urgent reminder to people who submit a tax self-assessment in paper form.
Those affected need to send in the paperwork before the Monday October 31 deadline.
Chas Roy-Chowdhury, head of taxation at the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, said: 'The self assessment deadline is fast approaching.
'It's important that anyone filinf their return submits their information to HMRC by the end of the month. Late submissions carry a £100 fine.
'I would urge anyone who is unsure about the information they are providing to seek the advice of a qualified accountant. It's far better to spend a little making sure the figures add up than face a fine. The fine will far outweigh the cost of having an accountant look at the information first.'
Information on the filing deadline and the penalties involved for late payment can be found on the HMRC website.
