2010 SEC Conference

2010 SEC Conference: An accounting & reporting update for US-listed companies

The SEC is increasing its scrutiny of public companies, and the FASB and IASB have several joint projects on their plates that could change the rules in major areas of financial reporting.

The one-day event is entitled '2010 SEC Conference: An accounting & reporting update for US-listed companies' will take place on 18 June 2010 at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower Hotel in Kensington. It is being run by Centre for Professional Education Inc (CPE INC) and is supported by ACCA.

Led by Alex Cohen, a partner in the corporate department of the US law firm Latham & Watkins and a former Deputy Chief of Staff in the SEC's Chairman's Office, this conference will open with two targeted sessions on the major rule changes being contemplated by the SEC and FASB. Other topics on the agenda are:

  • an update on activity at the SEC's Office of the Chief Accountant
  • economic crisis accounting issues
  • recent and pending FASB pronouncements
  • an overview of the SEC's Division of Corporation Finance
  • earnings management
  • common SEC reporting deficiencies
  • SEC comment letters
