The new British Accountancy Awards

ACCA and Accountancy Age are joining forces for the British Accountancy Awards 2011.

These new Awards focus entirely on the profession’s practice sector, and will become a regular annual celebration of excellence in the accountancy profession, for firms large and small and for individuals.

Andrew Leck, head of ACCA UK, says: “Recognising talent is important to ACCA and so we’re delighted to be partnering with Accountancy Age for this venture. It’s important that the profession celebrates its hard work and that recognition is given for its dedication; these Awards are an excellent way to do just this.”

Gavin Hinks, editor of Accountancy Age says: “These Awards replace the successful Accountancy Age awards which have run for over a decade. This re-launch will focus on building case studies to share the successes of the Awards night in November 2011.”

Both ACCA and Accountancy Age believe that previous winners of the Accountancy Age Awards have benefited enormously from the increased recognition in the profession and their increased marketability to clients, allowing them to stand out from the crowd in the current economic climate.

Gavin Hinks adds: “There are a wide range of categories, from the Practice Excellence Awards, which look to recognise the global, national and independent accountancy practices around the UK that have provided high quality services to their clients; to individual awards for those accountants who have excelled in 2011 - perhaps by helping their clients gain competitive advantage.”

Andrew Leck concludes: “For 2011, there will also be a Community Award which aims to recognise the firm using accountancy professionalism and advice to bring benefits to a deriving group of the wider community. ACCA is also particularly pleased to see a Training Manager of the Year, celebrating the support given to trainee accountants. We look forward to seeing the entries and recognising excellence.”
