ACCA collaborates with MDeC
The global body for professional accountants, ACCA, entered into a collaboration with the Multimedia Development Corporation (MDeC) to raise the profile of Malaysia as the preferred destination for finance and accounting shared services and outsourcing (SSO) centre. This partnership was made official at ACCA's first Asia Finance Shared Services and Outsourcing Summit hosted in Malaysia.
Over 100 local and international delegates attending the Summit witnessed the exchange of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between ACCA chief executive Helen Brand and MDeC’s Chief Operating Officer, Ng Wan Peng.
With this MoU, both parties will endeavour to raise the nation's profile by exploring opportunities with respect to talent enrichment and the development of the accountancy profession in Malaysia. It will also encompass the provision of learning and development opportunities for ACCA members and trainees to gain the necessary knowledge and skills required by the industry.
Helen Brand says, "This signifies an exciting collaboration that will be a great opportunity for all involved. Growing business services is a key agenda under Malaysia's Economic Transformation Programme and it has a significant opportunity for growth. Finance shared services and outsourcing is part of the business service sector and with Malaysia being one of the fastest rising destinations of choice for this, it will create, among others, a surge of demand for accounting and finance professionals in the country."
A total of 14 international and local experts in the SSO industry shared their insights at the Summit held today, including David Burgess, Vice President and Lead for FO KL Centre, Shell Business; Anthony Raja Devadoss, APAC Vice President at Kelly Outsourcing and Consulting Group; Dr. Martin Fahy, AsiaPac practice leader at The Hackett Group; and Raj Chandrashekhar, CFO Group Technology and Operations of Standard Chartered Bank.
MDeC was a strategic partner of the Summit, and ACCA welcomed Shell and Kelly Outsourcing and Consulting Group as corporate sponsors. Outsourcing was engaged as the official media partner.
