ACCA brings Audit Round Table series to the Caribbean
ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) recently hosted its first roundtable on Audit in the Caribbean at the Hilton Trinidad and Conference Centre, bringing together key stakeholders, auditors, regulators, investors, CFOs and finance providers with the aim of generating ideas, debate and recommendations about the role of audit. The Audit round table is part of a global series and has been held in Poland, the UK, Zambia, Singapore, Belgium, Malaysia and the Ukraine.
Some 130 local professionals including representatives from the public sector turned out to hear discuss the adequacy of the current role of audit. ACCA regional director Europe and Americas, Roger Acton and ACCA head of Taxation Chas Roy Chowdhury were in Trinidad for the event. Among the speakers were representatives form Big 4 firms PricewaterhouseCoopers, Ernst and Young, Deloitte and KPMG as well as Wain iton, Chief Executive Officer of the Trinidad and Tobago Stock Exchange, Carl Hiralal, Inspector of Financial Institutions, Susan Francois, Director of the Financial Intelligence Unit and Anthony Pierre, President of ICATT.
