CPD - a membership requirement
Why CPD is integral to your continuing ACCA membership
Aude Leonetti, ACCA acting executive director of learning, explains why your CPD is integral to your continuing ACCA membership
ACCA Realise, the CPD requirement for members, has been hugely successful and ACCA is delighted with the way that the CPD requirement has been embraced by members and employers alike.
The vast majority of members (98-99% each year since 2005) have engaged with ACCA Realise and have fulfilled all their CPD requirements. However, we have been left with a small number of members who have not engaged with the requirement by failing to submit their CPD declaration in a timely fashion or, in some cases, collaborate with a CPD evidence review.
We say in our Rulebook that all members, regardless of their role, must maintain competence in professional ethics and ensure that their business and finance knowledge is kept up to date. We take it very seriously when ACCA members do not complete their CPD requirement, and we have therefore removed a small number of members from the register during 2009.
We don't take these steps lightly. The members in question received written reminders from ACCA, and in some cases telephone contact too, but there comes a point at which we need to respect the wishes of our membership and our obligations in protecting the ACCA designation.
Ultimately, however, we are here to support all ACCA members and if you are a member that has been affected please see our website for details of how to be reinstated to the ACCA register.
It is our aim to coach and support all members to gain the maximum value from undertaking their CPD.
