Annual accreditation
Have you updated ACCA for 2010 exemptions?
ACCA's accreditation team conducts an annual accreditation exercise by contacting educational institutions that have programmes accredited for exemption. This ensures that ACCA is kept informed of any changes made to accredited programmes and provides educational institutions with the opportunity to apply for exemption accreditation for new programmes.
The deadline for institutions to respond to the 2010 annual accreditation exercise was 26 February. The sooner an institution notifies ACCA of any changes, the earlier 2010 graduates will have confirmation of their expected exemptions.
Students may be adversely affected and the appropriate exemptions may not be awarded if a programme's accreditation has expired with the 2009 graduate cohort, or changes have been made that ACCA's accreditation team are unaware of. To avoid this, any changes must be fully assessed and finalised by ACCA's accreditation team before 2010 graduates apply for registration and exemption with ACCA.
By accrediting relevant qualifications and keeping ACCA informed of any changes, accredited institutions are ensuring that the maximum number of eligible exemptions is available to students who have completed an accredited qualification.
To help institutions accredit and update programmes in a convenient manner, ACCA operates a unique online accreditation facility that is available to all recognised institutions. The service is fast and efficient, with no paperwork, and provides institutions with instant access to a range of exemption services.
It also gives institutions enhanced control of their accredited programmes and streamlines the process of submitting a new programme for accreditation. This facility can be accessed by logging into myACCA and inputting the user details that have been provided.
If an institution wishes to submit new programmes for assessment for 2010 graduates, but has not been contacted to take part in the annual accreditation exercise, or the contact details have changed, email accred@accaglobal.com as soon as possible to receive new user details.
