ACCA Hong Kong hosted its 14th Charity Fun Day on 16 January 2011, and raised more than HK$1m for Harmony House, Hong Kong PHAB Association and KELY Support Group.
The event, which took place at Chater Road Sunday Pedestrian Zone, Central, celebrated ACCA Hong Kong's 60th Anniversary as its theme. Referring to this in her address at the opening ceremony, Rosanna Choi, ACCA Hong Kong chair, said: 'In the past six decades, ACCA has experienced all the ups and downs with Hong Kong. Many accountancy professionals have been contributing their concerted efforts with their expertise and talent in bringing Hong Kong to new heights.
'In this special celebration, we would like to fill this vibrant city with positive energy... by lending your helping hands to groups of underprivileged people.'
Officiating at the event for the third time was guest of honour Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, GBS, JP, secretary for labour and welfare, HKSAR government, who paid tribute to ACCA Hong Kong's commitment and efforts in advancing public interest and promoting corporate social responsibility among its members.
During the day, members and associates participated in games, street performances and a costume parade. A highlight of the day was a rickshaw race, in which 30 teams from accountancy firms, corporations, colleges and institutions raced on Chater Road.
The Sino Group of Hotels team was crowned champion, and Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited and Sino Estates Management Limited were the first and second runner-up respectively.
PwC's EnerGiser won the award for Most Outstanding Costume.
