ACCA Beijing hosts accounting talent forum

Event considers views of educators and employers on development of future accountants in China

07 Dec 2009

A forum recently held by ACCA Beijing brought together tuition providers and employers to consider the development of future accounting talent.

More than 40 educators, including deans and professors from 18 key universities and 14 representatives from 10 business companies, attended the event entitled 'ACCA Educators and Employers Forum - Developing Internationally Qualified Accounting Talent'.

During the forum, Professor Liu Yongze, dean of the School of Accountancy at Dongbei University of Finance and Economics, highlighted the academic achievements of its school in training internationally-qualified accounting talent by incorporating the ACCA syllabus into its curriculum.

Meanwhile, Chen Rong FCCA, financial controller of Schneider Electric China, outlined the recruitment requirements and employees' expectations in the continuing development of accounting talent from the perspective of business employers.

Participants then discussed what they perceive as vital in developing globally qualified accountants. Du Zuoling, the former CFO of Lenovo, highlighted the importance of technical and management competency, while Chanel Ma, of HSBC, considered the value of communication skills training and measurement.
