ACCA chief executive visits Vietnam

Helen Brand signs agreements with leading institutions

28 Jan 2009

ACCA's chief executive Helen Brand recently visited Vietnam to sign two important agreements with the Ministry of Finance (MoF) and the State Audit of Vietnam (SAV). The agreements reaffirm ACCA's commitment to support the accountancy and audit profession in Vietnam.

The signing of the partnership memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the MoF is the result of more than five years' close cooperation between the ministry and ACCA, said Brand in an interview with the Vietnamese press.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Deputy Minister of Finance Tran Xuan Ha welcomed the extension of the MoU, adding that a significant demand for quality finance professionals is expected in Vietnam in the near future. Currently, there are around 400 ACCA qualified finance professionals and 3,500 ACCA students in Vietnam.

While in Vietnam, Brand also met with officials from Vietnamese accounting bodies - the Vietnam Association of Accountants and Auditors and Vietnam Association of Public Certified Accountants - as well as members and tuition providers.
